I have loved my career in nursing. I started out in a hospital on a medical unit and later worked long term care in nursing homes, sub acute and inpatient hospice. I worked in a senior clinic for several years and opened an adult family home specializing in dementia care, as owner, manager, and caregiver to the elderly. At the end of their journey I was their for our residents and their families to provide end of life care, support and comfort.
We as doulas can bring comfort, calm and peace of mind to you and your family. Part of elder care is to prepare. Your wishes, your advanced directives.

Our family entrusted Helen to care for our elderly dad for the last five years of his life. We appreciated her for her kindness, gentleness, calm demeanor, sense of humor and her keen ability to understand the needs of her residents and their families. At age 93, despite his dementia, Dad always broke into a smile when Helen entered the room.
My family entrusted the care of our mother, Jeraldine to Helen at her AFH until her passng. As time drew near to mom’s passing I stayed around the clock. Helen’s experience and gentle guidance helped me walk through those last days, but more importantly kept mom comfortable and reassured in every way. Helen read every signal tending carefully and thoughtfully to Mom and supporting me. I cannot recommend Helen highly enough for any role that places her in end-of-life care.
Helen, as AFH owner, manager and caregiver provided care for my elder mother who suffered Alzheimer's disease and other underlying medical conditions for over 5 years. I found Helen to be professional, competent. gentle, kind and thoughtful. She worked well with my mother's physicians and family members. Helen was an advocate for all in her care and put her client's safety, comfort, and emotional needs first. Placing my mother in her care was one of the best decisions that I made in order to keep my mother safe, healthy, comfortable and happy. I would not hesitate to recommend Helen as and EOLD.
